Bearish and Bullish Kicker
The gap that changes the story overnight
Watch the lesson
The teaching
A kicker is a gap that flips the story. A bearish kicker: price runs up, closes green, then gaps down. A bullish kicker: price closes down, then gaps up and runs up.
Read the gap strictly: a bullish kicker is a red closing candle, and the next candle gaps up and opens completely above the previous red candle — clear of its whole range, wick included. The bearish kicker is the mirror: a green closing candle, and the next candle opens completely below it.
The example from the original lesson is NBIS on the weekly and daily charts — flagged in a live session, then it fell sharply for four days. When you see patterns like that, pay attention.
Key points
- Bearish kicker: green close, then a gap down.
- Bullish kicker: red close, then a gap up and a run.
- The gap candle must open COMPLETELY clear of the prior candle — wick included.
- NBIS: flagged live, then fell sharply for four days.
